Kathmandu: The monsoon is anticipated to become more active by the coming Thursday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division. The monsoon low-pressure trough is expected to position itself near the southern border of Nepal, indicating an escalation of the monsoon's intensity.

Given this forecast, the Division has advised the public to stay vigilant and take necessary precautions until July 4. During this period, the weather is expected to be generally to completely cloudy across the country, with light to moderate rains occurring in most regions.

Certain areas, including parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and some areas in Madhesh, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, may experience heavy rains with lightning.

In the next three to four days, heavy rainfall is anticipated in one or two areas of Koshi, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Specific regions in Koshi Province, such as Taplejung, Panchthar, Sankhuwasabha, Tehrathum, Morang, Jhapa, Sunsari, Ilam, Dhankuta, Bhojpur, Khotang, Solukhumbu, and Okhaldhunga, are particularly vulnerable to landslides and flooding.

Similarly, in Bagmati Province, areas such as Makwanpur, Chitwan, Sindhupalchowk, and Dolakha are at high risk of natural disasters. Myagdi, Baglung, Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Tanahu, Nawalparasi East, and Lamjung in Gandaki Province are also identified as high-risk areas. In Lumbini Province, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Pyuthan, Nawalparasi West, Rolpa, and Rukum East are at risk of disasters, while no such high risk has been predicted for Madhesh and Sudurpaschim provinces.
